God is a Sovereign God who has graciously given us clear and good instructions for our living. The book of Ezra demonstrates these two Truths so well, I just had to share some history and some encouragement to hide in our hearts. The days are long but the years are short. Let us not drift away.

Three Lessons From Ezra
1. God makes things happen according to His Will
The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will. Proverbs 21:1
2. The enemies of God are enemies of God and will be our enemies too
Romans 5:10 – we are enemies of God before Christ
1 Corinthians 15 – God is putting all enemies under the feet of Christ
John 15:18-25 – If you are of the world, the world will love you
1 Peter 2:18 – endure when we suffer for God
1 corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1 Peter 5:9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
3. God’s Word shows us our sin and sin must be called sin for forgiveness to be known
Ezra 10:10 “break faith” is what sin is – not believing who God is and entrusting ourselves to the world instead.
We need to come before God with humble hearts.
What’s the worldly call in your life? What’s calling out to you?
